In school assignment Nov 14.

Computer Lab assignment.

Remember to respect the substitute teacher as they are very important. :)

Directions
Open up Microsoft PowerPoint from the start up tab on the bottom left hand side of the computer screen. You will be making a PowerPoint presentation today as if you are the teacher getting ready for a lesson. Here are the expectations;
  • Your topic for the lesson is 'Our Solar System'. Make a title slide that has your name, homeroom teacher, and date on it. (colored background)
  • Create a slide for each of the planets in our solar system. Don't forget about the sun either!
  • Each slide needs to have atleast one picture, 3 facts, and a colored background.
  • Keep the font at Arial 12 for the information on the slides.

    • You will print ONE page that has ALL of the slides on it.
    • If you look on the left side of the screen where the slides are stacked there is a small button that looks like it has 4 squares on it. Click on this picture to see the small four square button easier....
After you hit the button it should have all of your slides on the screen like in this picture. Although you will have more slides. When you are done hit print. Make sure your name is written where I can tell who it belongs to if it can't be read on the small slide.

Solar System Home Project

The project is DUE NOVEMBER 26.

Solar System 3D project. Students are to create a model of an object within our solar system in a 3D scale. Possible choices include the following;
  • A single planet
  • A moon
  • A comet/asteroid/meteor
  • The entire solar system
The project itself doesn't have a specific material requirement. Please be creative and think of ways to build without spending a lot of money. I've seen great projects using  simple items such as paper towel rolls, shoe boxes, tooth picks, etc..
If you are looking for items to help you can visit the Toy House, Michaels, or even Meijer. But again, please try to build without spending a ton of money.

Expectations

Students will..
  • create/build a model that represents an object within our solar system in 3D.
  • write a 1-2 page report including facts in THEIR OWN WORDS (not copy and paste) about their project as well as a section explaining how it was built and who helped.
  • present their project to their peers and answer questions that classmates might have about their project.

It's now time to continue our 'photo series' with the newcomer being 'Earth'. Research the following questions and turn the answers into a nicely written paragraph. Don't forget to include your 'photo' of Earth fully colored. Hand in when complete.

  • What is the atmosphere of Earth made up of?
  • How many miles away from the sun is Earth?
  • What is the official name of Earth's moon?
  • What is the average temperature on Earth?
  • What is Earth's core made of?
  • Why does Earth have a magnetic field?
