This week in science we study the sun

Here are some vocabulary words students will need to write and illustrate in their science binders;

Eclipse- An eclipse is what happens when either the moon comes between the sun and the earth, or when the earth comes between the sun and the moon.

Asteroids- A rock, or Minor Planet orbiting the Sun. Astrology.

Meteors- A shooting star, observed when a particle of dust enters into the Earth's atmosphere.

Meteorites- An object from Outer Space, such as a rock, that falls into the Earth and lands on its surface.

Gravitational Pull- The attraction that one object has for another object due to the invisible force of gravity.

Star- A self-luminous object that shines through the release of energy produced by nuclear reactions at its core.

Test Tomorrow.. Big Bang theory

Here is the study guide for tomorrow's test:

1. Explain the big bang theory with specific details to the event. 

2. Who originally thought up the Big Bang Theory?

3. When did the Big Bang Theory pop up in science?

4. What is a galaxy? 

5. What Galaxy do we belong to?

Sept 24 Vocab words

Big Bang Theory- the theory that the universe originated sometime between 10 billion and 20 billion years ago from a huge explosion of a small volume of matter

Matter- The definition of matter is a physical or tangible object or substance. It refers to anything that occupies space and can be seen, touched or felt or tasted

Galaxy- A collection of stars, gas, and dust bound together by gravity.

Universe- All existing matter and space considered as a whole; the cosmos.

Big Bang Theory warm-up questions

With a partner look up the following questions and place it in your reflection sections labeled:

1.     Find out when the idea came about.

2.     Who thought it up?

3.     What questions do people still have about it?

4.     What gases were created from the Big Bang Theory?

5.     What questions or concerns do you have about the theory?

(list 3-5 you might ask a scientist who believes in the theory)
