This project is centered around our unit on plate tectonics. Students will draw a project out of a bucket. The possible project themes are.... earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunami, Earth's layers, and or mid ocean ridges. Students will also present their project in class. Students will have until after Christmas to complete it.
* Students will make a project at home. I would encourage using house hold items and not bought kits. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT :) I'm looking for creativity.
Student will also include a 1 page written report about their project including but not limited to these questions:
* What plate boundary is responsible for the creation of your project?
* Where is a real life example located on the earth of your project?
* What kind of damage can your project create in real life?
* Write a section about how you made your project.
* What did you make it out of?Who helped you?
* How long did it take to build?
Project is to be turned in Jan 8!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Must be at least 45 seconds in length
- All partners must be involved... either holding the camera, acting, or directing (if doing a lego project)

The Rock Cycle PROJECT!!!!!
Our next unit of study is the Rock Cycle. Within the unit we will look at sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks.
Students are also going to be assigned a creative project about the Rock Cycle. This can either be creating a rap, song, or something in this fashion to record and play for their students. Great examples can be found on You Tube by just searching The Rock Cycle Song. Students should start thinking about what they can do for this assignment. Students can work in partners up to four (but everyone must be involved on camera or recording). I do have a camera that can be used at school to record. If you have a phone camera that will work as long as you upload it onto the students flash drives to share with their peers. A simple audio recording would work too.
The first steps in this process is just to get in a group where someone has a camera access. The due date is by December 4. This is going to be a fun project for the students. They can turn it in at any time... basically whenever they are done.
AND I WON'T BE PUTTING THEM ONLINE. :) This will be for our class to view and enjoy. Have fun with it!! You can help them!!!

Line Graph Homework!!!!!!!!!!
Right now in science we are building graphs in order to help organize and conclude on data collected when we do labs. Monday and Tuesday students created bar graphs and Pie Graphs from candy hearts. Today we created line graphs in class.....
HOMEWORK TONIGHT!!!!!!
Students create a line graph over data they have collected. We discussed this in class and passed around ideas, such as Number of Wins the Wolverines have had from seasons 1997 -2008... Students are to create a line graph of their own liking tonight.
If they want to do this online and e-mail it to me here is the link

Flash Drives- ROCKETS
This Monday we are going to spend our time in the computer lab. I will be showing the kids how to save data on their flash drives. Remember to bring them.
In class we have just finished our rocket lab, with the question
"What straw will fly the furthest, striped or clear?" Students really seemed to enjoy the launching of the straws. We are going to use the data we collected and write our observations and conclusions. Check back for the data results!!

Human Body Systems
We have begun studying the human body. This is the unit that the students have been waiting for all year. We dissect pigs at the end of this unit so the students can get chance to really see the different organs and organ systems that make up an pig. We use a pig because many of the organs are in the same place as in a human. Stay tuned and I will post pics of the dissection.
Also if anyone parent would like to participate with the dissection please contact me and we can make it happen!!!!
